Welcome to the Maine Knights of Columbus

“Subject: New Vietnamese Seminarian for the Diocese

The diocese has another new seminarian from Vietnam, his name is Tien Hoa Nguyen and he is also studying English at St. John’s Seminary for the summer.  Applications have been made for both Tien Hoa and Thanh to attend Catholic University’s (Washington DC) Intensive English Program the fall of 2017.  The Knights have been very generous and have helped Thanh with sponsorships.  If any Council and/ or Assembly can assist TIEN.PLEASE CONTACT PAUL OUELLETTE VOCATIONS DIRECTOR AT oulltt@roadrunner.com or calling 207-402-0033.

We have 2 new young men that are waiting to be accepted at the seminary.  More information will be sent to you in the next upon receipt.

Thanh Pham’s birthday is November 5 instead if May 11.  Their passports reverse the month and date, in error. The incorrect date of birth was provided.

We are blessed that Kevin Upham will be ordained transitional deacon this Sunday, June 18,2017 at the 10:00 AM at the Cathedral in Portland.

We are saddened that Dennis Fitts has decided to NOT to return to the seminary next year.”

NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS:

I invite you to attend one of the three upcoming summer meetings. You will get first-hand knowledge of programs and training offered throughout the state and the Order. Grand Knights, Financial Secretaries, and District Deputies are expected to attend at least one meeting. Other members and officers are encouraged to attend a meeting. The more who hear the message, the better it is for your council, the district and the state.

The summer meetings will be held: June 24th in York;
July 22nd in Fort Fairfield; and
July 23rd in Belfast.

Details will be provided to you once you have indicated which meeting you plan to attend. For planning purposes, please provide information to the Executive Secretary Raymond Sargent. You can send your response no later than June 8th by mail (116 Farview Drive, Sanford 04073), by e-mail (rascmw@gmail.com), or by phone ((207) 324-7589 or (207) 651-6636).

Brother Knights,

In commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of Our Blessed Mother’s apparitions at Fatima, Portugal, there will be a series of Rosary Rallies on the lawn at St. Anne’s Church on Rt. 25 in Gorham Maine.  The first rally will occur at Noon on Saturday, May 13th, which is anniversary of the first apparition.  Subsequent rosary rallies will be held monthly through October 14, 2017. These rallies are part of a nationwide effort which has a goal to provide 20,000 simultaneous rallies across the country.

Brother Dan Kasprzyk is requesting that all Knights and Councils consider participating in or supporting the efforts of this group by attending and praying the rosary PUBLICLY each month through October. Dan is also asking for members of the Honor Guard to provide a presence at the Rosary Rallies as a show of respect and reverence for our most Blessed Mother Mary.

All are welcome to participate in praying the rosary – after all Mary’s message was to the World, not just Catholics.  We will provide instructions on “How to Pray the Rosary” and will have a limited number of rosaries on hand for those who may not have their own.
For those unfamiliar with the Blessed Mother’s apparition and messages, they were simultaneously hopeful and fearsome.  Hopeful if we answer her calls for prayer and repentance.  Fearsome if we do not heed her call.

ARE YOU AN ACTIVE MEMBER?

Are you an active member.
The kind that would  be missed?

 Or are you just contented
That your name is on the list?

Do you attend the meetings
     And mingle with the flock?
Or do you stay away at home
     And criticize and knock?

Do you ever go to visit
     A Brother who is sick?
Or leave the work to just a few
     And talk about the clique?

There’s quite a program scheduled
That I’m sure you’ve heard about
And we’ll appreciate it if you too
Will come and help us out.

So come to the meetings often
And help with hand and heart
Don’t  just be a member
     But take an active part.

Think this over, Brother,
     You know right from wrong.
Are you an active member?
     Or do you just belong.
